Although responding to emergencies can be considered a form of community outreach, Evergreen Fire Rescue has a rich tradition of this service, involving all of its personnel in multiple programs. In recent years we have expanded our outreach programs in breadth and depth and we pledge to continue delivering these programs above and beyond the regular call of duty. Our largest campaign every year is Fire Prevention Week, which we extend throughout the month of October because we have so many schools in our district. We also conduct courses on extinguishers, defensible space, evacuations and first aid. In 2006 we partnered with Clear Creek School District and Clear Creek Sheriff’s Office to develop a wildland firefighting course at Clear Creek High School and we’re doing our part to implement a community wildfire protection plan. Responding to 911 calls is only one aspect of the service we provide to our community.
